So Oppo, I'm curious. What are your thoughts on the truck market right now? There are a lot of huge things going on right now. RAM just started delivery of the first 1/2 ton diesel to the market since the 80's, Nissan is set to add a much more powerful Cummins supplied diesel in their revised Titan in 2015, Toyota is rumored to be talking about trying to use the same engine in the Tundra, GM has a 4.5L diesel they were supposedly rolling out "soon" that's from the sounds of it been shelved, and etc...
I've been a sucker for Dodge trucks for years now, so finally seeing the "ecodiesel" make its way into production is a sweet moment for me. Obviously the prospect of a 26mpg diesel pickup is pretty slick all around, assuming it still performs. The issue of the RAM's acceleration numbers obviously comes into play here, sitting around the 9 second range. Throw a trailer behind the trucks however and I'm pretty certain the acceleration figures start to shift in favor of the Ecodiesel, too bad I can't seem to track down MotorTrends loaded acceleration data from their testing.
But with trucks and testosterone on the mind, what're your thoughts?

Around here at least. Every. Truck.
I am excited to see the new Dodge diesel. Wish I had something more to contribute. I'll show myself out...

The truck market is nuts right now. Even the most basic trucks aren't really basic. It's become a game of power and luxury. Not that I'm complaining in the front seat of my uncle's Laramie with the heated seat on and Alpine stereo jammin'.

The new tundra looks like a cheap piece of shit, way to go toyota
Trucks are getting really expensive, but on the other side of the coin you get more truck for your money. Hell, the base model 3.7L V6 F150 makes more hp than my 5.8L V8 in my bronco.

Truth. I was sold Fords for a while. one day I had a custom tell me he WOULD NOT BUY A V6 TRUCK EVER! then I kindly told him that the V8 on this 2002 F-150 made less power than the 3.7 in a new F-150, and a Ecoboost has more torque than the 5.0l. He drove home in a 3.7l F-150 later that afternoon, because it had all the power he needed.

if I was buying a new truck it'd be a 5.7l Ram 1500 SLT.

Thoughts: They are too damn expensive. Go look at a F-250/Ram 2500/Silverado 3/4 ton, well equipped, and then go look at a Cayenne.
Yeah, thought so.
No one really makes a good little V8 work truck anymore. Sure the V6s are decent if you only have stuff in the bed to haul around, but trailers? It's doable (I tow an open car hauler with a 1995 F150), but not exactly something desirable.
To get a V8 now, you are looking at close to $30K. Interestingly, the base F150 is cheaper in Canada than the USA. That ought to tell you how stupid we are for buying new trucks
Not that used is any better. Values are still very high and will be until summer when gas starts going up.
